Tyler is an energetic 13 year old boy who lives in Kendall, New York. He was born with several medical conditions. In addition to an immune deficiency, a growth disorder, and Asperger's Syndrome (high functioning Autism) Tyler also suffers from several severe, life threatening food allergies. This has made life very difficult for Tyler. He lives with constant fear that accidental contact with an allergen-containing food will cause a fatal reaction. As his parents we must constantly check everything Tyler eats.

Tyler has the opportunity to be partnered with an allergy alert service dog. This would give him the ability to go out into the community without fearing that the food in his environment could be fatal to him. An allergy alert dog is specially trained to detect any allergens in Tyler's food or environment and alert him before he comes in contact with them. The dog will be by Tyler's side at all times as well as carry his life saving medication. The dogs' job will be to keep Tyler safe as he transitions from childhood to a young adult, through college and beyond. Without the help of a service dog Tyler's future goals will be very limited.
